On arrival at Paro Airport – you will be greeted by our official and transferred to Thimphu (Approx. 50km / 2hrs drive). Check in to Thimphu hotel – Post fresh-up proceed for Thimphu city tour covering -Art & Craft school, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, National Library, Handicraft centres, The Memorial shorten built in the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, Tashichoo dzong, Buddha Dordenma statue, Bhutan Simply Museum, Folk and Heritage Museum, Handmade paper factory, BBS Tower, SAARC building,15 century Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo to see the rare “Takin” national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with good view of the Thimphu valley. After enjoying an early breakfast, you will check out and be transferred to Paro, which is approximately 50km away and takes around 2 hours to drive. Along the way, you will experience many surprises and scenic views of the mountains and nature. You will visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, which was built in 1647, and also take in the stunning views of the Paro airport from the viewpoint. Once you reach Paro, you will drive 12KM north to visit the Holy Tiger Nest Monastery, which requires a 2-3 hour hike each way. However, if you’re not interested in hiking, you can still enjoy a view of the monastery from the parking point. Afterward, you can proceed with local sightseeing, including a visit to Ta dzong, Rinpung Dzong, Dungtse Lhankhang, Nya-mey Zam, Ugyen Pelri Palace, and Kychulhakhang monastery. At Kychulhakhang monastery, you can explore the cultural and traditional heritage by dressing up in local attire and trying on various traditional dresses available at the location. Finally, you will check in at your hotel and enjoy some leisure time before spending the night in Paro.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you can head out to Chelela Pass, which is one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. This pass is surrounded by thick forests and is a beautiful botanical paradise. You can witness stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and Jichu Drake, and hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. The forest floor is covered with cascades of wild roses, purple and yellow primulas, and swathes of deep blue iris. The top of the pass is adorned with rhododendrons in a variety of colours-pale pink, deep pink, burntorange, mauve, white and scarlet. You can also visit Haa valley, which is approximately a 2-3 hour drive. After a day of sightseeing, you can return to your resort or hotel and enjoy the evening at your leisure. Have a great overnight stay at Paro.
